The Spanish Association on Supported Employment (AESE) jointly with AURA Foundation organizes the Mediterranean Conference on Supported Employment.
This forum aims to be a meeting place where to unite the concerns of the entities of the sector, important companies, public administrations, unions, and all those agents involved in the labor inclusion of people with disabilities and people with mental health problems.
In this sense, the objective is to involve all the actors to deepen in the debate of the inclusion, the transition, the UN convention, the reconversion of services, etc …

Laura A. Owens, Ph.D., CESP, has over 30 years of experience as a national leader in the disability employment field. She is currently the President of TransCen, Inc. (TCI) and a Professor at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UWM) in the department of Teaching and Learning.
Laura founded Creative Employment Opportunities, Inc. (CEO) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, an employment agency for individuals with disabilities in 1991 (now part of TransCen) and ArtWorks for Milwaukee, a non-profit jobs-training program in the arts for youth with and without disabilities in 2001.
At UWM, she teaches courses focusing on high school inclusion and transition from school to work, and coordinates the graduate Transition Certificate program.
She served as the Executive Director of APSE, a national organization focusing on the advancement of integrated employment for citizens with disabilities based Washington, DC from 2008-2014. Laura is an internationally known speaker and has published widely on transition and employment topics.

XIV NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT
In the 14th National Congress on Supported Employment., organized every two years by the AESE (Spanish Association on Supported Employment), AURA has been the chosen entity for the Mediterranean Congress on Supported Employment.
This assignment has been given for different reasons:
- AURA was the host of the 7th World Conference on Supported Employment in 2005, the most successful international conference in this field (750 attendees from 32 countries)
- It coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Supported Employment in Spain
- The EUSE (European Association for Supported Employment) wants to promote the networking of Southern European countries in order to deepen in the best policies that would allow a real deployment of this kind of work placement.
- There are new emerging practices of great interest in Mediterranean countries such as Israel, Morocco, Turkey, etc
The goals are:
- To offer a multidisciplinary forum for meetings and discussions, open to all those who work, research or are interested in the field of Supported Employment and the inclusion of people with disabilities into the labour market.
- To promote the development, exchange and diffusion of research and quality and of contrasting experiences of Supported Employment, or the transition from special work or occupational centres to ordinary companies
- To develop exchange and participatory networks between professionals, researchers and people interested in this field at an international level
- To spread innovative experiences and facilitate exchange and communication between professionals
- To propose guidelines for future development, which will allow the scientific and professional world and the users’ requirements to be taken into account, focused on innovation and transformation of usual practices.
- To promote good business practices that help to manage diversity
- To empower users of Supported Employment programmes to enforce their right to self-determination
